What is the GFT Player?
The GFT Player is a specially curated online viewing platform. It offers you the chance to watch new releases (available to stream alongside their screenings in the cinema), favourite films that you may have missed on the big screen, and exclusive additional content. Films can be streamed anywhere in the UK and Ireland, and, where possible, they will be available in HD.
The GFT Player was originally made available as part of a pilot project, in collaboration with video-on-demand providers Distrify, supported by NESTA’s Digital R&D Fund, Scotland. You can read more about this project here.
What devices does the GFT Player work on?
The Player works on PCs, Macs, tablets and mobile phones, subject to an individual user’s internet connectivity. All films can also be viewed on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.
What kind of films will be available and how often will new content be added?
Our experienced programmers are excited to have a new platform on which to offer you a unique range of quality contemporary and classic films. With currently only two physical screens and limited space in our cinema programme, this is a fantastic opportunity for us to broaden our offer and make available films that audiences might otherwise not get the chance to see. We add new films to the Player each month.
How much does it cost to stream a film?
Prices start at £2.99 and the standard streaming price is just £4.99. This is cheaper than a standard GFT cinema ticket and great value if you watch as part of a group.
How do I use a discount code?

If you have watched a film on Distrify before you will be asked for your password. If this is your first time, you will be asked to fill in a few more details. Then click OK. How does streaming work?
If you buy a streaming rental, you can watch the film directly in your web browser via instant streaming. You don't need any special software or hardware, you just need to be connected to the Internet – high-speed broadband or a high-speed 3G connection are recommended for streaming. You will be given 30 days to watch the film. If you get interrupted, you can pause the film and watch the rest later – you can resume viewing up to 5 times within the 30 days.
How do I connect my laptop to my TV?
Certain laptops can be connected to your TV, providing you have one of the following connections on your laptop: composite, S-video, VGA, DVI or HDMI port for connecting an external display. You must also have a corresponding port on your TV. You will then need to configure the settings on your laptop. Select “connect an external display”. You may then need to adjust the resolution for the TV’s display, but you should now be able to watch content from your laptop on your TV.
