Win Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry prize bundle and free tickets

Ai-weiwei-web_thumb

The brilliant, rebellious and outspoken Ai Weiwei is both China's most famous international artist and its bravest domestic critic, taking on the strict censorship and political/legal pressures of his country in attempts to expose government corruption and to fight for free speech. Ai expresses himself and organises people through art and social media, most notably on Twitter.

In response, Chinese authorities have shut down his blog, beaten him up, bulldozed his newly built studio, and held him in secret detention for over two months without filing any official charges.

Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry (at GFT Friday 10 - Thursday 16 August) is the inside story of a dissident for the digital age who inspires global audiences and blurs the boundaries of art and politics. First-time director Alison Klayman gained unprecedented access to Ai while working as a journalist in China. Her detailed portrait provides a nuanced exploration of contemporary China and one of its most compelling public figures.

The competition winner will receive:

2 x tickets to see Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry at the GFT screening of your choice
1 x Ai Weiwei t-shirt
1 x set of four A3 quote posters
1 x Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry quad poster

To be in with a chance of winning, we want you to answer the following:

What one thing would you change about the world, if you could?

It doesn't have to be serious, but it doesn't need to be a joke either. If you have a statement to make, we want to hear it. We're all about diversity of ideas and free speech.

Competition closes Thursday 9 August at noon.

I'd change that fact that so many mistakes are made in order to make such little progress.

Make freedom a truly worldwide reality - not simply an idea.

I'd like to change Scotland's weather :) Just by making it sunnier would make the entire world a better place.

If I am being completely honest, and I am, the one thing that I would change in the whole wide world at this moment in time, is the future. I want the future to be that I win this competition and the prizes. And that's that.

I'd change it to a single worldwide currency, and allow free travel between countries without passports or visas.

If I could change one thing about the world right now this instant it would be the ability to convert doubt into an energy resource. Renewable, low carbon, and cost effective!

    People.
If people were just BETTER ( what else can I say? Kinder? More Sensible? More Intelligent?) then all the "issues" of the world would be nonexistent because we would know to solve problems by joining together rather than fighting. The world would be a wonderful place to live for everyone.

    This competition is now closed.

And our winner... is... Tom Wells. New sustainable, renewable (and Green) energy sources? That's what we like to see, Tom.

Thank you to everyone who entered, this wasn't an easy one to call. Maybe take a minute today to talk about what you'd change on Twitter and get people thinking.
