The First BornN/C 8+

Sunday 13 May

GFT is proud to screen this major new BFI National Archive restoration of the recently rediscovered British melodrama The First Born. Strongly reminiscent of early Hitchcock (co-writer, Alma Reville, was Hitchcock’s wife and closest collaborator), this adult portrait of a philandering aristocrat’s passionate but rocky marriage to his beautiful and long- suffering wife is a triumph of late silent cinema.

This screening features Stephen Horne performing his newly commissioned score live.
