Glasgow cinephiles will not want to miss this special digital presentation of one of the great classics of African cinema, courtesy of Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Foundation, no less. Mory, a cowherd who rides a motorcycle mounted with a cow's skull, and university student Anta meet in Dakar, Senegal's capital. Alienated and disaffected with Africa, they fantasize about fleeing for France. The film follows them as they try to scavenge and hustle the funds for their escape. Full of colour and energy, with influences ranging from Nicholas Ray through Jean-Luc Godard, not for nothing has Touki Bouki has been called the African Easy Rider.
