Marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of his death, Elly Taylor’s documentary Peter Darrell: Scotland’s Dance Pioneer is a wonderful tribute to the life and legacy of the founding father of Scottish Ballet. The brilliant choreographer created innovative dance pieces that reflected the times and brought emotional intensity and a physical dynamism to the classical repertoire. The documentary ends with a fresh staging of his pas de deux for Cheri. We will also present rare screenings of Darrell’s work Mods and Rockers (1964, 25 mins) and Houseparty (1964, 30 mins), an experimental ballet for BBC2 based on Francis Poulenc’s score for Les Biches. A must for dance lovers.

why are both showings during the day? absolutely no good for people who work. I'd love to see this ... exasperating.
