The Spirit of '45U
- Dates Showing:
- Saturday 4 May
Ken Loach's new documentary, The Spirit of '45, is about the founding of the welfare state in post-war Britain in 1945. Using film from Britain’s regional and national archives, alongside sound recordings and contemporary interviews, he creates a political and social narrative about the years following the Second World War and the changes that Britain endured. By using the voices and memories of the time, Loach hopes to illuminate and celebrate a period of unprecedented community spirit in the UK, the impact of which has endured for many years and which may yet be rediscovered today.
The screening will be followed by a recording of the Q&A with Ken Loach (45 mins) that was originally broadcast on Sunday 17 March.
