Access Take 2
GFT hosts monthly accessible screenings. The film and the cinema environment are suitable for children with autism spectrum disorders and/or sensory hypersensitivity. The films have no subtitles, are played with the volume reduced and the house lights on low. Children can make noise and move around. Children with other disabilities are welcome to attend the screenings too.
The screenings will take place on the first Saturday of each month at 12.30pm.
Glasgow Young Scot or Kidz Card holders and an accompanying adult get in FREE to these shows! All other tickets are £5.00. Each £5 child’s ticket also admits one adult free of charge.
Below are some comments from parents that have attended our accessible screenings at GFT.
These screenings are great. I just wanted to send you a quick message to say thank you for doing them. There are very few places I can take my son where everyone understands that he is unable to sit still and quietly for very long. We absolutely love coming every month and I have bought him DVDs of some of the films you have shown as he enjoyed them so much.
Thank you all so much for providing such a welcoming atmosphere, it is great for us to be able to relax and not worry about our child making a noise or upsetting other cinemagoers. It can be really difficult to do things together as a family, and it's very important for all of us. Because of your wonderful idea, my daughter, who has severe learning difficulties and autism, could go to the cinema and bring her 10 year old sister, 6 year old brother, his friend and two carers who support her. We all had a great time.
