Legacy of an Invisible Bullet

This unique filmmaking project comes to GFT for a one-off series of screenings during Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Art, culminating with a special Q&A screening with the filmmaker Doug Aubrey.

Based on 170 short films, Legacy Of An Invisible Bullet invites an audience into the collapsed time universe of a cancer-struck, conflicted filmmaker and video artist as he investigates his life and film archive, with the help of a female avatar acting as his subconscious voice.  The chapters can be viewed linearly in their entirety, bite size individually, or even front to back. Logic is present no matter what, in the 10 ½ hour show, and you can jump in and take part in the journey anytime during its run.

Film-maker Doug Aubrey has spent his entire life with a camera in his hand observing the world and often getting into trouble. Diagnosed with thyroid cancer after a winter surf trip, he turns his camera’s gaze inward and starts making short films. Making (existential) use of the surfer terms: Wipe out, Hold-down and Surfacing, Legacy Of An Invisible Bullet unfolds as a stream of 170 short films exploring a real as well as a hidden 'inland geography' populated by fear, hope, trauma, dreams and an imagination facing the end of life.

The 170 short films that make up Legacy of an Invisible Bullet are divided into 16 chapters that will play across 5 screenings with Sliding Scale (pay what you can) tickets at GFT:

Sat 8 June - Chapters 1-4 - 12.20 - 3.03pm

Tues 11 June - Chapters 11-13 - 3.15pm - 5.38pm
Weds 12 June - Chapters 14-16 - 3.30pm - 5.35pm

On Thurs 13 June at 7.40pm we will screen the Feature Cut of Legacy of an Invisible Bullet, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker Doug Aubrey. This will be a standard price show.
