In the Name of the Father

Writer/director <b>Jim Sheridan</b> and <b>Daniel Day-Lewis</b> reteamed after their award-winning <i>My Left Foot</i> for this eloquent drama, which is also based on a true story. Day-Lewis plays Gerry Conlon, one of the Guildford Four, who were convicted of a pub bombing in 1975 after coerced confessions, in what would go on to become known as an infamous miscarriage of justice, and not released until 1989. Conlon’s father Giuseppe (<b>Postlethwaite</b>) was also jailed and Sheridan’s gripping narrative – based on <b>Gerry Conlon</b>’s book Proved Innocent – focuses on their relationship as they persuade lawyer Gareth Peirce (<b>Emma Thompson</b>) to crusade for their exoneration.DramaPT2H13M152026-03-03
