Lomu

Jonah Lomu announced himself as a Rugby Union sensation when he debuted for New Zealand’s All Blacks at just 19 years old – becoming their youngest ever player – and cemented his celebrity status at the 1995 World Cup. Despite his sporting success, his personal life wasn’t easy, not least after he was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome kidney disease. He died at just 40, in 2015. Gavin FitzGerald and Vea Mafile’o explore Lomu’s life from his Tongan roots to his international fame, using a wealth of archive footage and insightful in-depth interviews with friends and family, including his mum Hepi and brother John.
``DocumentaryPT1H46MN/C 12+2026-02-27
