Pressure + Short + Q&A

<span style="font-family: Aptos, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">The first feature film directed by a Black British filmmaker, <b>Horace Ové's</b> <i>Pressure </i>follows a Black family in west London; from the parents who came from Trinidad as part of the Windrush generation with their first son, now part of the Black Power Movement, to their younger British-born son Tony (<b>Herbert Norville</b>), who is trying to find his place between the two cultures. As he leaves school and encounters prejudice on individual and institutional levels, Tony struggles to find acceptance in the country he grew up in yet has no Caribbean home he can dream of returning to. Unemployed and caught between an aspirational mother and a radical older brother, he drifts away from school friends and towards Black Power politics.&nbsp;</span><br><div><div style="font-size: 12pt; direction: ltr; font-family: Aptos, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br></div><div style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Aptos, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The 4K restoration has been undertaken by the BFI National Archive and The Film Foundation, with funding provided by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation, with additional thanks to the BFI Philanthropy ‘Pioneers of Black British Filmmaking consortium’.</div></div><div style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Aptos, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br></div><div style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Aptos, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><div style="font-size: 12pt; direction: ltr;">Before the feature we will be screening BAFTA Scotland 2024 Winner, <i>Black Wool</i> followed by a short discussion with its director <b>Eubha Akilade</b>, and <b>Balenji Mwiche</b>&nbsp;Glasgow-based creative producer, filmmaker, and film programmer hosted by the screening’s guest curator <b>Eilidh Akilade</b>.&nbsp;</div><div style="font-size: 12pt; direction: ltr;"><br></div><div style="font-size: 12pt;"><i>Black Wool </i>(15mins) -&nbsp;</div><div style="font-size: 12pt;">On her first day at a high school in rural Scotland, a London teenager is targeted for her afro hair by the class clown and must harness her inner power.</div><div style="font-size: 12pt; direction: ltr;"><br></div><div style="font-size: 12pt;">Both films will be screened with captions and the introduction and discussion will have live captions. &nbsp;</div><div style="font-size: 12pt; direction: ltr;"><br></div><div style="font-size: 12pt;">We have a small allocation of free community tickets for this screening, if you would like to attend, please email: sam@glasgowfilm.org.</div><div style="font-size: 12pt; direction: ltr;"><br></div><div style="font-size: 12pt;">To book a wheelchair space or for any other access requests this for screening please contact access@glasgowfilm.org.</div></div><div style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Aptos, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br></div><div style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Aptos, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Screening as part of our <a href="https://www.glasgowfilm.org/black-history-month-at-gft">Black History Month</a>&nbsp;programme.&nbsp;</div>DramaPT2H6M152026-10-15
